METRO SOUTH ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS
President's Message

Congratulations to all the Million Dollar Club members for this year. What a great job you have done! Lots of folks are now enjoying their new or maybe their first home because of your efforts. You should feel good about that. Don't forget the MDC banquet is Mar. 14th at the Convention & Trade Center at the airport (same place as last year). The MDC committee has been working hard to make this a grand event for you. An evening to remember! More information will be forthcoming about that.

Jamie Upchurch and her committee are hard at work organizing the Habitat for Humanity project. We desperately need your help. We need to raise approximately $40,000 by April to finish this house. The HomeBuilders are helping us with goods and services but we cannot rely totally on them. They said they carried most of the load the last time we built one and we can't let that happen this year. This is a great rewarding project. It is your opportunity to give something back to the community. We have a recipient selected. She is a single mother with 2 children. Not only do we need donations, we need for you to volunteer your time at least one day. As a reminder, we are trying to build this house in one week so everyone has to pull together! It can be done and we are counting on you!. Please contact Jamie at ReMax Advantage in Stockbridge and volunteer 770-389-5300 or JAMIESELLS@aol.com

Also don't forget your RPAC donations. We'd like for all of our companies to be 100% in this area and $25 per person will do it. We need the support of our legislators especially regarding the "Big Grab banking issues" and the Predatory Lending Act revision. Stay tuned on that. Hope everyone mailed their letters to the Henry county commissioners. We met with one of them regarding our requests and most of the responses were positive. The positive remarks were mostly regarding subdivision marketing signs. He said he will discuss our issues with the other commissioners and get back to us. Currently we are waiting for a reply. Regarding directional signs: They may be placed on corners 7 days a week but not on the right of way (usually to the utility poles) , must be on private property and have written permission from the owners.

I want to establish a president's council with one member representing each office. The brokers were asked at the broker owner's meeting to select someone and get back to us. If you are interested in serving on the council, please contact Ann at the board office or email me at sandra@southmetrohomes.com

Until next month--keep up the good work!

Sandra McCrary
