The Dekalb Board of REALTORS® Resource Center now has the Section 8 Homeownership Guide. The guide made available to REALTORS® from NAR was established to familiarize REALTORS® with this new homeownership initiative. The Program created by HUD last year to allow recipients to use their housing assistance toward the purchase of a home. Under the program Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) have the option of making the Section 8 Homeownership available to their residents. REALTORS® can help make the program a success by collaborating with their local PHA and HUD office to promote awareness and understanding of the value of homeownership. The Guide contains information on steps a PHA needs to take, methods of financing, and local community groups that can help to institute a Section 8 Homeownership program.
